We felt rushed and he did not seem to want to address any of my queries. He did not look behind my sons ear under the light, did not give an explanation as to what it could be either. In fact at point he even got stroppy. I’ve never had such an experience at this surgery before - all the doctors have been very patient and pleasant.

I am saddened to read about how you felt about the consultation and I would appreciate if you could contact me to discuss your experience in more detail. I am sorry that you felt rushed despite the appointment lasting almost 20 minutes rather than 10 minutes. Your son had an operation by the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) specialists. I felt the room lighting was enough to examine behind the ear (without needing additional lighting), especially as you had also helpfully sent us photos prior to the appointment which we had saved in your son's records. We discussed how there might be infection and I suggested that I prescribe both liquid and capsule versions of an antibiotic in case your son had any difficulty swallowing the capsules over the weekend. I explained that if his ear did not improve / got worse, then it might be best to present to A&E (over the weekend) which might also be the quickest way to be reviewed by the ENT specialists if needed. I am sorry that I did not realise that you had queries that were not addressed. I hope your son is doing ok and please do contact us back at the practice if we can be any help. I hope your next experience at the practice is more positive. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback to help me learn how I can improve.

He listened to my symptoms and reassured me that the problem is being managed with further tests. Very reassuring.
